Foam Backing?

Ranked #382 - Weeklong Packs (Over 4500 cu in)

So I own a Teton 4000 inch adjustable torso pack. I took it out on a 2 day hike and the velcro that holds the adjustable torso together comes undone. I guess it cant support the weight I thought it could. So, I was looking at this pack in the Northface store and thought the foam on the back looked a little sketchy. Like it might rip or tear apart when put threw some abuse. I hear the foam is tuff but it's exposed? I like this pack other then that and dont want to have a problem with that. Worth buying?

I bought this pack with some resignations about a few of the features. I got it anyway and lived in a tent for a month in the tundra in Alaska on the Seward Peninsula, hiking about 10-15 miles a day with 100-175lbs of gear (too much!) with his pack and it held up to everything I hit it with! From grizzly encounters to being thrown around and rainstorms. The kicker being the overweighted pack...I didn't think it could handle it but it did...
