Warmest most versatile base layer EVER. I own two, just to alternate between washes, that's how good it is. Take any jacket you have and add another -10*C to it's capabilities by combining with the R1 Flash. When winds pick up, the hood protects. Thumb loops lock in the heat. Grid pattern polartec fleece traps heat like crazy. Jersey feel on the outside make for easy slide into jackets, and pill resistance. Like I said, if you are enthusiastic about your other gear, augment it with the R1 hoody. 5'9 155lbs, Small fits perfectly. Hood doubles as neck gaiter.One of my favorite weightless heater combo is the R1 flash + Arcteryx Kappa AR, really extends the temperature range of the AR without the need to go SV. Backcountry rocks as always.
