Good product- I'm pleased with mine

I had no proper ski vise prior to this one. I ordered the TOKO World Cup on the advice of a friend, and am quite pleased. I have mainly used it with 55mm-waisted skis so far, but see no reason why it wouldn't also work well in the wider advertised range. Initially my skis with tapered cap construction popped out, but I quickly realized that I was over-tightening the vise. When I backed the clamping pressure off slightly they held firmly and no longer popped out. The rubber pads are sufficiently grippy, and have some taper built into their profile.
One thing I looked for prior to ordering and could not find was the maximum jaw opening of the hold-down clamps. I have a thick woodworking bench, and needed to know if these would mount to it. In case anyone else is in the same boat, I have measured the product and find that 2 3/8" is the maximum bench thickness that this vise can mount to, without requiring some sort of modification.
One useful accessory if you are tuning skinny skis is the TOKO Nordic Ski Support. These are little platforms that mount to the tip and tail supports of the World Cup vise to give more stability and support when working on light, skinny skis. In the TOKO product photo the Nordic Ski Supports could be mistaken for metal. They are actually plastic, but seem plenty strong for what they need to do.
