Ranked #61 - Men's Trail Run Shoes
March 2, 2010
I bought these shoes for a 2 month backpacking trip through Europe with the hopes of using them as trail running shoes when I got back. Unfortunately, the tread was pretty worn down and the cushion seemed to have depleted quite a bit. I still use them for casual trail running, like sections of the Wildwood Trail in Portland (note Montrail's Wildwood TR shoe. half trail runner/half road runner), but tend to prefer my LaSportiva Lynx for the rockier, technical trails.
On another note, I wanted to get the Masochists but the insole had too high of an arch for my flatter feet. The same thing happened with the Streaks, but for whatever reason the Hardrocks fit really well. I tried the shoes with Montrail's fancy insoles but it made the problem even worse. Nothing wrong with the insole (I use them in my hiking boots) just didnt help with my high arches.
