These are a great pair of 30 dollar rain pants. Again, they're 30 bucks which means they're cheap, fairly durable for the price, and yes, not 100 percent waterproof. I use them for backpacking when there is the potential of rain and they service the job adequately. They're not designed as ski pants or for absolute downpours - but in a pinch or when you're going to be hiking through thick and overgrown trails, they're great.
