Ranked #715 - Men's Hiking Boots
February 24, 2010
I've had these boot for 3 months and worn them in a variety of conditions putting on at least 30 miles so far. Right out of the box they were true to my street size and are very comfortable. For boots this durable they feel light and only slightly clunky. I wore them around the house to confirm that I liked the fit and then took them on a 2 mile hike. As other reviews mention they have a very sturdy sole with little flex. Despite that stiffness I am even able to comfortably jog a short while in them.
They've stayed warm with smartwool socks in deep snow on dayhikes. They have great traction and I feel quite confident scrambling on steep rock and boulders with them.
In water over the toes they are waterproof, however in water up to the ankles I noticed some leaking which I believe is due to the lower gusset.
Overall I would definitely recommend these boots, with the caveat that they may leak in ankle-deep water.
