I went by the Merrell name and my experience with other Merrell shoes, which have fit so well and been well constructed. (I also went by other reviewers' recommendation of the boot on backcountry.com) ANYHOW, the pair I had leaked at the pinky toe and ball of the foot. I could see by looking at the boot that there was an unclosed seam on the boot, both boots same place, that likely attributed to the leak. Otherwise they were comfortable, though weren't quite high enough that they rubbed on my ankle bones, but I figured I could get used to them. I needed waterproof and these weren't. Blah.
