Handsome Jacket

Ranked #538 - Women's Softshell Jackets

I bought this primarily to wear over a down layer in winter, but I should also get plenty of use out of it in fall and spring on its own. I usually wear a Small in outerwear, but I sized up to a Medium in this case and it worked out perfectly. However, if I wasn't planning on layering, a Small would've been the better fit. Wearing it over a 650 fill down coat was plenty warm in 30 degree weather and significant wind (which is what I was concerned about). The fit is well-proportioned, and I never feel that my movement is restricted when wearing it. The waist is defined even with my down jacket underneath, so I didn't look bulky, either. I'm 5'2" with pretty average proportions, and the jacket falls just below my butt, and keeps my wrists covered even with my arms over my lead. All the material looks really nice, and this jacket has all the features I was looking for. It also has an exterior zippered pocket in back that isn't listed in the description - which is a good place to stash the hood or powder skirt if you remove them in the field.
