Gear Review
Does the job.

For protection from rain and snow in limited exposure, the Marmot Precip has been a great gift from my father. He doesn't backpack or ski (anymore), so for his limited-activity lifestyle encompassing mostly National Park visits and weekend drives into the mountains of Colorado, this jacket is ideal. Don't be fooled into thinking you'll get the same water protection as, say Gore-Tex, but "I don't have to spend the money on that expensive stuff". This rain jacket does a good job of shedding precipitation during limited exposure. This is not the jacket for 3-week backpacking trips in regions with high annual rainfall numbers. If that's what you're looking for, enlist the power of a Gore-Tex or another shell with a "guaranteed waterproof" membrane. But, if you need a lightweight, packable shell to store in your car or pack for the occasional shower that doesn't last for days, the Precip is for you. Note: Durable Water Repellant coatings (http://www.backcountry.com/store/search.html?mv_session_id=K58uXert&q=Nikwa
