z2 is definately the way to go and i'll put it this way, after the first few days of wearing em i couldnt take em off because they were so awesome! i hike in em, i've gone across glaciers in em and even slept in em and the whole time i hardly notice em! they've become part of my feet! i have z1 also and they're not as good for the trails because they dont have the toe-loop which definately keeps your foot from slipping around if youre going through a mud puddle or two. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Oh and If you don't trust 77 reviews for 5 stars, give em a shot and if you don't like em, send em back. Backcountry is da shizz and wants to make the customer happy. But mark my words, once you're in em, you won't want to get out of em!
