I bought these boots for Chicago winters and being out in the snow. I was trying to decide between this and the Sorel Timberwolf, but after reading reviews about poor durability of new Sorel boots I took my chances with these. The fit is more like a shoe than other boots that I tried on, which is great for every day wear. I have worn these almost every day since the day I received them. They are light and easy to walk in. This boot isn't very tall, but keeps the snow out very well. I had them out in over a foot of snow and my feet were perfectly warm and bone dry. At first I only wore them with midweight wool hiking socks, now I just wear normal socks and they are just as warm.

The lacing system is good. It requires no effort to tighten them up at the top, because the boot cinches as you clip the lace through the top hook. However, it can be difficult to unlace the boot from the plastic hook at the top without using a lot of force. This can be cumbersome while standing leaned over, as the angle doesn't work very well. I also worry about the durability of the hook as it is plastic and I have to pull so hard to remove the lace. Also, it is virtually impossible to keep the laces from untying without double-knotting them. The laces are a little too short for double-knotting and tend to stick up and out from the boot. If it wasn't for these issues, I would have given the boot five stars.

These boots fit me about a half size smaller than regular shoes, so I had to go with an 11.5 rather than my normal 11. This is my time buying Keen footwear, and I am very satisfied with the product and company as a whole.

I had to order over the phone on 12/26 from Backcountry, which was super easy. Using free shipping, the boots arrived on 1/4, which I thought was very fast when considering the holidays.
