The all purpose hat

I have lots and lots of hats, but this is the one I use most often. It is like my favorite camera and lens, I seem to always reach for the same one.
First of all, it is ALL wool. And wool is warm, breathable, and fast(ish) drying. I have poly-wool blends that are not nearly as warm.
Second, it is nice middle weight with a nice weave. I have heavier wool ski hats, but those are for extremes. The weave allows the hat to breathe in warmer weather but holds the heat when it gets chilly. This hat is really versatile: from cool weather down to 10F. If the north wind is blowing and it is below 10F, this is not the hat. Otherwise, it is great.
Third, it goes over my ears. I think I must have low slung ears and a big head or something, but a lot of hats don't cover my ear lobes. And that is like having socks that fall down when you hike. No good. This hat is over the ears.
Finally, it is really comfortable. The wool doesn't itch (I have wool sensitivity). And it doesn't bind.
Confession: I have 3 of these hats, in three distinct colors. That is how much I like this hat.
I got a great deal on my last one from Backcountry.Com. So I couldn't resist.
