Classic Vasque sturdiness, but unforgiving for 'soft' feet

If you're looking for a sturdy, well-built boot, Vasques are the thing to buy. This Zephyr construction was very sturdy for the 150 or so miles i hiked in them. No splitting. Good GTX construction. But they are not for the 'weak-of-foot.' With very little give or padding even after extensive breaking in, they literally tore my heels open once my foot got wet--this was after they had been blistered them for dozens of miles (when you're 20 miles out, you can't always just stop moving). So if you are one of the lucky humans to have a flat heel, then this boot will probably work great. But for those of us that need more padding to protect a bonier heel, this boot (and likely other Vasques as I have heard) will be a tough hike. I finally went out and bought some Merrell Outland Mid boots--which didn't hold up well but didn't blister.
In short: sturdy, classic Vasque construction. Hard on sensitive feet.
