Gear Review
Not my favorite of the Dakine Winter Packs

I actually returned this because of the detachable back panel. I get that you can use that to slide a snowboard behind it for carrying but if you detach it there is no back padding at all. Just not what I wanted. Think the Heli Pro or Pilot would have been a better choice for my needs.

So leave the panel in place as it is the padding. There are straps that allow you to tighten it down so it does not move. I tried out the horizontal cary sys and didn't really care for it (just didn't like carrying a board horizontally), so I never use it but have left it there as padding and it does not effect the fit or movement of the pack what so ever. I personally love this pack! I'll write my own review sometime.
