Temperature issues

I was using this water pump on a trip this past weekend. It was about 19 degrees at time of use and the pump froze solid. The water froze totally in the microfilter area. This made the pump totally useless till it warmed up and melted a few hours later. This could have been a serious issue if you are out for a long period of time in very cold weather. I used the other filter we had, different style and make, but it had no problems at all pumping several bottles in the same temp. Not recommended for winter use.

In defence of the filter, it's not intended for winter use - the specifications specify that storage temperature should be above 32F/0C, and says "Do Not Freeze". Freezing damages the fibers of a hollow fiber filter.
