I've taken this backpack on a few backpacking trips in the Catskills and Adirondacks and have loved every second hauling it. First off, the backpack sits very comfortably and is highly adjustable (with its many straps) so you can tweak the straps enough until it adjusts to your shoulders and back well. I'm 5'6", 155lbs and the Medium suited me perfectly. There are pockets galore which I find very useful when you have smaller items you want to bring along that you don't want getting lost in the major compartment of the backpack. There's a small compartment at the bottom of the bag that's divided off by a detachable separator that only modestly blocks your gear from sliding down once the bag is on your back. I recommend putting your sleeping bag or sleeping pad toward the bottom of the bag so that smaller gear doesn't slide down passed the divider and into the small, bottom compartment. I used the small compartment for clothes storage mostly because it has a separate zipper that opens from the outside for quick and easy access. The detachable head to the bag is a nice accessory that I haven't had to use yet but is a nice option to have. Like another reviewer, I also wish it had a small pocket of some sort on the shoulder strap or waist belt for a camera, map, binoculars, etc. but other than that, this backpack provides ample room for your supplies (~40lbs for me) and plenty of comfort to make your backpacking experience that much better.
