Gear Review
Oh yeah

Ranked #64 - Snowshoes

I paid like 155 for mine, got the 30" ones. I weigh 155lb and 68.5". Not that height really matters. Oh if you go of Tubbs website, I was at the bottom of the weight range for the 30" snowshoes. Screw that, their recommendations are for 'trails.' I tend to blaze my own, but having said that I got to Crater Lake, OR where there is fresh snow regularly. If you like fresh snow, get the size up. Oh, loaded I am about 165-170 lb.
The bindings work REALLY well. That is one of my favorite aspects. They climb reasonably well too. Probably mostly thanks to the big-ass aluminum teeth on the bottom. Unlike most Atlas shoes, there is a hinge-pin that the binding pivots on. This is good and bad. The good is the the front will go high up without trying, it also makes off-camber trails a little easier because it wont flex at all. THe bad is the back drags a little (actually very insignificant, not even noticeable) and taking a big downhill stride may be a little weird. Sometimes in softer snow (deeper) the front will tap my shin. THat can be bothersome.
Short story, I love them. Used them 10 times for several hours on end each trip. Oh and if you tend to rome on flatter ground these are a bit better because of the slightly more centralized foot position than more 'mountaineering' style snowshoes (foot is generally farther forward for climbing).
