Gear Review
Loving every minute

Ranked #1074 - Big Mountain Freeride Skis

Picked up the VCT Turbo in 182. I have had a chance to ride in a pretty wide array of snow to get a good feeling for them. The zero chamber is great. It allows for me to cruise the groomers without feeling out of control like with some more extreme rockered skis. These skis will absolutely bomb down the hill, they love to bomb! But the zero chamber also allows for this ski to float amazingly in the freshies.
Cons- its just that since its 104 its not the most nimble ski so moguls and tight stuff can be a challenge, but it does plow through anything which is great. Also since it is zero chamber sometimes it will not track straight, but if your on edge your fine.
Bottom line, this is a great ski for cruising around a resort on groomers, then diving into trees or finding pow stashes.
Wont give it 5 stars yet, havent had the chance to get some serious pow runs in yet. Only got knee deep so far.

Hardpack performance is exceptional, especially for a ski this large underfoot. This is a great ski, and in my opinion one of the best choices if you want one ski that can do it all, and do it all well. The regular VCT's might be a tiny bit more stable for you on groomers, but the performance in pow on these is much better, and there is very little difference in how these ski on hardpack. My 08/09 VCT's feel a tiny bit more stable, but I would totally cash them in for the turbos in a heart beat if I could, just due to the pow performance.

how does these perform on the hardpack, groomers? im 6 foot and weight 150 pounds. i need a ski that carves very well but yet floats in pow. before i usually skied a thinner ski on the foot but i want to go bigger. is this a good ski? any other good skis on the market...
