I own 2 of these, use them with my son who was 9 years old when we got them. Have used them in lakes and sound, have not tried ocean. Extremely stable, even for my son's inexperienced friends. Impossible to flip. Stability/width also makes it slow moving on wendy days, but good exercise. Haven't tried on rivers, but don't think thats what its made for. Highly recommend for fishing ponds and small lakes.

we use them on the lehigh river class 1-3 rapids manuevers great, with great stability also took it to the ocean to ride waves excellent all around boat.
