These basically rested perfectly just above the hip on me. No stretching and room in the seat to be scrambling around if needed. I ordered the 4X18 in sage. A similar style in the same size (Coral Compass) left me with about 2 extra inches of gap in the waist.
I'm 5'1" about 105-110lbs (post turkey day:) Normally a 0-2 pant size, but was worried about a 2 being too tight. (UGH...... tape measure-wise *sigh* I measure a 27" at waist, and 31" at the hip)
Here is the ruling from "the tape".
all measurements are taken with the garment laying flat in the classic v-position. (Size-4X18)
Waist- 14-14.5" in the back. front "dips" about 1.5" lower in the front.
Length (top of waist-bottom) about 26"
Inseam - 17"
@ tip of zipper pocket diameter 9-9.5"
Leg opening -8.5-9" with about 1" slit on outside seem.
Slash line pockets in front--not my favorite. A stacked double cargo style pocket on left side with velcro square corners closure), one zipper vertical pocket on the right side (which I'm not so sure about practically, but looks nice) and no rear pockets.
Oh, the belt loops are about 2" wide all the way around except for the center of back, which is "normal" width (just shy of 1/2").
Overall, I'd recommend looking at the Trekster, a capri pant, even if they do call it a knee pant. Comfortable right out of the package.
Keep in mind, this review is based on the "look" (not extensive wearing experience... yet :-) ).
Hope this helps.
