This is the one for you kayak people... or most. I am a researcher type person. Batteries in the unit + water= eventual crap out. The batteries should be in the back as this unit has. Many onliners complain about the head lamp version breaking. This unit is all LED and provides plenty of light. Another complaint is the head band units with no head strap. This unit has one.
Okay... so I know my stuff... right? I was out on the surf in my kayak and I have just about everything tethered. I took off my lamp as the sun came up.... a huge wave came out of the inlet from a Sunday boater in a hurry.... my yak got rocked and my headlight went flying into the deep blue sea. ha ha True story. I am reordering ... but next time I am going to tether it to my life vest.
