Better Than $300 Orthotic Insoles

By Ranked #527 - Socks October 14, 2009

I'm glad to see Backcountry has restocked the Montrail and Montrail LP insoles. The heat formed insoles are better than any other I've tried including Superfeet in several colors, anything from Dr Scholls, and two different Dr prescribed $300 orthotics. I was suffering from Plantar Fasciitis and nothing helped until I tried some heat moldable insoles from Sole' which is the same principle as the Montrails, becoming molded to your foot after being placed in the oven for a couple minutes then placed in the shoe or boot you'll be using them in then standing in the shoe til they cool. The Sole's held up well but when I went to buy some more for other footwear I found the Montrails on sale for about half the price and that's when I switched.

The regular Montrail I use in boots and the Montrail LPs I use in anything lower profile like my Merrell Chameleon Stretch or biking shoes. I've worn them everyday for years in my work boots and no longer have any pain in my heal or calf from the PF. The insoles last me over a year of daily wear, and can be remolded and refitted
in another shoe.

Over time, usually when they're on sale, I have purchased different insoles for every boot or shoe I own because I didn't want to have to switch insoles every time I put on a different pair and they mold to each specific pair of shoes differently. So now each new shoe I buy, I get some Montrails to go inside for comfort and support.
