A lot of down, definitely adds several inches to your diameter (as it should to provide warmth).
I usually buy medium NF jackets, but am most comfortable in the small for this vest.
Definitely a very-cold-weather item, I would not have occasion to wear this vest without also needing a big jacket or many layers of shirts.
Overall, great NF quality, comfortable and warm.
