Ranked #657 - Winter Packs
September 28, 2009
An excellent pack that I've used for backcountry skiing, mountaineering, and rock climbing. The packcloth is of excellent durability. Helmet feature is secure. Ice axe loops are adjustable to serve as diagonal ski carry. It would be nice to have the hipbelt pockets the new version offers. Shoulder strap padding is modest, but I have done multiday alpine routes with this pack and not been too uncomfortable. I'm 5'9 and have the 42 liter which has not been too big. I will probably also purchase the 32 liter in Avalung for short backcountry days or sidecountry use.
