Perfect backpacking shirt

I never pictured myself wanting to backpack in a long-sleeved, button-down shirt until I slipped into this little number. It's so light that you barely feel it, and the sleeves are wonderfully long. I wear them unbuttoned, and they partially cover my hands to protect them from the sun. The collar even stands up so that I can get protection on my neck as well. Sun protection is my main concern when I'm hiking in the CA sunshine at altitude. I always thought that long sleeves would be too hot, but you barely notice this shirt. The best part is that it is sturdy enough to keep the chill off if you hike into shade or a breeze kicks up and you're sweating. Really awesome shirt. I found the side zip pockets to be convenient for slipping my map and a small compass in and out. I wear this shirt on every trip (and it can do double duty as business casual at my job, too!).
