Osprey Packs Kode 38 Backpack - 2100-2500cu in

Item #OSP0159 | 94 in Stock
1 Star Rating

Waste of money

By Ranked #924 - Winter Packs September 14, 2009

I bough this pack for work but after loading it with skins and avalanche gear there is no room for anything else. The pack is poorly designed. They claim its for patrollers and avalanche professionals but there is no way that I can use this for patrol. Don't spend your money on this item, there is barely enough room for a day trip. I personally like the Black Diamond Anarchist Avalung pack.

My guess is this guy didn't find the big compartment behind the strap system panel. Duh.

I also have the KODE 30 and there is enough room for day ski trips....for ski touring....I would imagine the 38 would be that much better in regards to the amount of gear you can carry...

Have you checked out the Osprey variant 37? It has a ton of room, can even be used on multi day trips, ski touring and ski mountaineering....It will have plenty of space for your needs....

I think i voted down the wrong comment. i agree with Thomas, I have the Kode30 and fit skins, 3L bladder, googles, extra lenses, change of base layers, plenty of food, emergency kit, golite insulating jacket. I would only imagine using the kode38 if i was planning on going on a multi-day alpine tour.

Just pointing out that this review sounds way off. I own the Kode 30 (large) which is 20% smaller than the 38 in the same size and I have room for two sets of googles, extra gloves, extra batteries, multiple cameras, food, 3L bladder, skins, fleece, shovel, probe, and plenty of space left over.
