Love the footbed, miss the Vibram sole

By Ranked #368 - Women's Hiking Shoes August 10, 2009

I am a house painter and needed a pair of shoes for the summertime duties of crawling around on roofs and running up and down ladders. I am literally on my feet all day long in hot and precarious conditions. The Chaco Paradox is probably the most comfortable work shoe I have ever owned (they also double as hiking shoes after work and on weekends). I don't get backaches, nor are my feet sore at the end of a day's work or hike. I'm pretty rough on my shoes, and these have taken all sorts of licks and bangs in stride. Two things though: first, if you wade in the water, they will take longer than a day to dry out completely. Second, the recycled rubber soles aren't as grippy on wet rocks or metal roofs as the Vibram soles on my old pair of Chaco sandals (the Z2s I think), and the soles also seem to be wearing out faster than a Vibram would.
