Something wrong with the sizing

Before buying these tights, I carefully read all reviews and double-checked sizing. According to size charts I should be a S-M. I ordered the M and I can barely get into them...I am 5"5 and 133 lbs-- curvy, muscular build, no unnatural bulges or lumps. I know these are supposed to be compression tights and fit very snug, but these were so tight that they were unncomfortable. Not sure if I'm going to exchange for the large or just send them back.
