Ranked #265 - Women's Hiking Boots
August 1, 2009
These boots have been many places with me - Oregon deserts (with 40+ lb pack), Colorado mountains (through big talus fields with a day pack), snowy Indiana and Utah canyons. The footbed construction is very supportive but I am looking at trading them in as I have not yet (in over 2 years of wear) been able to 'break them in' beyond the point where they leave quarter sized blisters on the backs of each heel. I thought I was getting there when they stopped blistering my second smallest toes but they never fail to leave me in lots of heel pain. Perhaps my feet are just not right for this design. Besides that - these are great boots.

So true! I've spent the past year and a half trying to break them in. I've put quite a few miles on them with no pack, 60 lb packs, and everything in between, and every single time they destroy my feet. Last week I had to cut a backpacking trip short because I literally couldn't walk anymore. Definitely traded them in and hoping to find a different pair that are less of a nightmare. Any suggestions?

Ugh. I have had mine for a year and have hoped that eventually my heels would survive a hike without blisters. It has yet to happen. And by the looks of these posts... maybe it will never! I climbed a mountain 2 days ago in heel agony and I still can't wear a normal shoe yet as the blisters have not healed. I tried a new insole and sock liners. No help.

I agree too! After 2 years of "breaking them in" I realized that it was an impossible task. My heels got blisters every time! Everything else about the shoe was great, but I just don't think that they fit my feet well.

I completely agree. These boots tore up my heels like you wouldn't believe. I tried various points of tightening laces, thicker socks, everything. I gave them 2 good years to break in and experiment to no avail. These boots suck.
