I used this on a trip to the boundary waters. We got rained in one day and got stuck on an island. It worked great for that, but it was just a heavy mist and sometimes rain. it was coming straight down and worked, but i dont know how well it would work if there was wind blowing sideways. i felt that i might get a little wet.

I havent gotten to use mine yet but im thinking that, if you tied it up diagonally, rather than just straight it may work better in the wind since the sides would be down a little further
