Solid Tent but has some limitatiions

The Sierra Designs Lightning XT 3 is a good tent. It is quite large and is one of the few 3 Person Fairly Lightweight Tents I have come across that can comfortably sleep 3 people. The rainfly goes on easy and works very well. Definitely a sturdy tent. The dual entry on either side is great and the rain fly offers a generous vestibule.

So now the negatives. First, make sure to set this tent up prior to taking it out. The set up is not that easy or intuitive. If you know you are going to set this up in the dark, make sure to set it up before you reach your first destination with this. Once you have done it thought, it's fairly easy. Second, as far as backpacking goes, this tent seems to large and bulky. It's not overly heavy but will definitely eat up space in a pack.

All in all this is a good tent. I think if you are mainly using this for car type camping or can split up the pieces among three people, you will be happy with this tent. For long distances and true backoountry trips this tent is too big.
