DMM is the best but these are off the mark

DMM is definitely one of the best carabiner manufacturers out there. I think the DMM locking Shadow and the Mammut Bionic (made by DMM) are, for their respective categories, the best biners on the market. However, I'm not really a fan of of these Shadows. Lateral play in the gates makes the action rather rough. The thumb recess for added grip on the straight gate is okay, not nearly as nice as the Petzl Spirit's.

Added strength with I-beam construction and larger gate clearance are nice, but not enough to outdo the classic petzl spirit or BDs positron. This is especially so when considering the cost.
