Amazing pack, and all of the straps are excessively long and can be trimmed to normal lenghts for more weight saving. I really wanted this to work. Loaded it up with 25#, and it's like the hip belt would rotate down in the back, and I would end up with more weight than I wanted on my shoulders. The vented backpanel was great in the desert at Guadelupe Mountains NP, but I kept tightening the hip belt to try to get it to work, and it felt like the 1/2" strap would cut me in half. Maybe it's just my build, a buddy tells me it works great for him.

Im 5' 10" wide build 225lbs. My torso length is 19". I picked up a large Exos 46 and when I load it up with my gear, 3 liters of water, three days of food (about 4.5 lbs) the pack weighs in at 24 lbs. I have taken it out one time so far and went on a ten mile hike on a moderate/difficult trail with an elevation gain of 4000 feet, to try it out. I did experience a hot spot on my right side at the waist belt at the beginning of the hike, but after the pack broke in it really felt nice. I really like the way the pack hugged my body, I had it set up in a way that 100% of the weight was put on my hips. It felt transparent on my shoulders. I was able to knock out this hike in under 3 hours which is about 30 minutes faster than my average time with my old pack. I think this added speed was because the pack is super stable and I didnt need to shift my weight that much to adjust for the pack. This pack is awsome

This and the Atmos series are one of the few packs I have ever owned that seemed to immediately transfer the majority of the pack weight off of my shoulders and neck and to my hipbelt, where it rests comfortably all day. I am not sure why Stephen wants most of the weight on his shoulders, or if that was just a typo, but to each his own. I know that one size does not fit all when it comes to pack designs, but the Exos definitely works for me...

5'5" 112 female. Don't go there unless it feels perfect! If that exposed metal frame is anywhere near bone, you will be sorry! Straps and belt uncomfortable construction, IMO. I am willing to go 1.5, even 2.0 lbs heavier for a 45L ish pack that feels good!

I'm considering this pack, but am concerned about a lot of the weight resting on my shoulders. I'm a 5'5", 120 lb female. Would either of you recommend this pack to me, taking into account any differences in size and build?

I agree wholeheartedly with this. I could never get the pack to fit where most of the weight was on my shoulders. I used it for one overnight and returned it. There are plenty of other packs that put most of the weight on my shoulders.
