I got my Chaco sandals two years ago and they have been my primary summer shoe ever since. I'd say they excel doing day to day outdoor activities and around the water. I made the mistake of hiking doing 700 feet vert. and I smashed my toe on the way down. Blood in Chacos is no fun. I'm not sure about the toe strap. While I love the security it adds (I've bouldered in them) I've struggled with the adjustment. It seems to tighten up after lots of activity.
