My feet are very happy with them

These are really nice socks. I wear a size 11 shoe, and the Size 4 socks fit perfectly. They are on the snug side, but they are supposed to be (and they are not tight on my calves, nor do they slip down). They are not especially bulky, so they give me a little more wiggle room in my boots. But they fit my foot tight enough (with padding in all the right places) that they do not slip and contribute to hot spots. It feels like they form a snug, soft protective shell around my feet. They seem to breathe well enough, and keep my foot dry even in the heat. Whether it is the tightness cutting down on foot swelling, or the supposed support they provide, my feet do feel more comfortable after longer hikes. Are they worth the price? If you tend to have foot problems or sore feet, they very well may be.
