Gear Review
Warm, but packs small

It is amazing how much difference some extra torso insulation can make. This is thin enough that it can be worn under just about any outer-layer, but still breathes fairly well. It can even be worn over just a long-sleeve baselayer, providing more warmth (and wind protection) than you might think. And it packs small, so it is easy to take it off and pack it mid-day when the weather starts to warm up.
