This is the perfect lightweight, close-range head lamp. Im never afraid to toss it in my pack on an afternoon hike that might go late and it has come in handy on more than few occasions like that. This little piece lives in my car when it not in my pack and helps me get around the dark areas of my engine or trunk. For close range, the light is incredible i.e. finding lost bolts, hooking up wires, following tent stakes into the bushes at 3 in the morning when you know you should have found a place to camp hours ago, or just reading a book. I prefer it to the tika/zipka because of wider range, similar weight with a more useable build. Also, the Ion has proven to be quite durable. Thanks BD.
