Big Agnes Sleeping Giant Memory Foam Sleeping Pad

Item #BAG0120 | 31 in Stock
3 Star Rating

Ow... but it does have some potential.

By Ranked #793 - Sleeping Pads April 13, 2009

I bought this kit last year and have used it with my thermarest - I have to admit, I'm kind of disappointed. I still wake up in the middle of the night with pressure points and have yet to get a good night's sleep with it. It's also pretty bulky once you've inserted your pad into it...not ideal for backpacking; more the size you'd take car camping. It's softer than my thermarest or z-rest alone, so I am thinking about giving it a second chance, perhaps with a big agnes aircore mattress. We'll see... it's an awful lot of money to spend for what little it seems to do. Three stars for the idea, happy green color, and in the hopes that with a thicker air mattress it will be as comfortable as I dreamed it would!

You definitely need to use it with the big agnes mattress. This memory foam coupled with that mattress makes you feel like you are sleeping on air. I have back problems and have difficulty sleeping on most air mattresses but the big agnes is perfect for me. I now never feel the ground when I sleep.

Get rid of the therarest and use it with a Big Agnes pad and you will see the difference. I tried out the Thermarest in the stores and I don't understand why people buy them. Try the Big Agnes pads (yea, you have to blow them up but we are all big boys now) they are half the price and much more comfortable. Add to that these neat products Big Ag makes to make good products even better and you will be a Big Ag customer for life. Did you know the Big Agnes air pad folds up the size of a one liter water bottle? I only use this product for colder weather backpacking as it does add more weight to your haul, but if you want to stay warm and have a good night sleep....buy one. (And get a Big Ag air pad to use with it!!)
