My son loves his new Chopper. He has phenomenal gross motor skills and could stand up without losing his balance just fine. Now we're working on learning to turn and stop. I paired the board with Burton Freestyle bindings (the 1 straps) and Burton boots in the smallest size available an 11C.
The Chopper is a great board at a great price and if you buy the 2009 now which is 1/2 price at at least one online retailer that I know of then your little grom will be all set for the next season.
PS-Backcounrty only price matches if the board on sale at another retailer is the exact same size as the board you wish to buy at BackCountry, so keep the board size in mind when you are price shopping and not just the make/model.
