Soft Whippers

Ranked #675 - Big Wall Climbing

Own 2 Zephyrs - one blue, one orange - and they hold up pretty well. Taken the same one on multipitch trad climbs, sport routes and even ice climbing. I lost count about how many falls I've taken on this rope. Recently took a 45 ft whipper and it was a soft fall surprisingly. Now I only use it as a gym rope. It's taken so much abuse through rain and snow and still held up fine for a year of hard climbing. The major things I don't like about it are (1) I prefer smaller ropes (under 9.9mm) now and (2) It gets heavy when I'm walking a couple miles up to a crag. Overall Petzl makes good ropes (I also own the Nomad) but I think for the money you are better off buying a Maxim. Like I've said, I've put this thing through WAY more abuse than it probably was designed to take.
