To echo the other reviewers, it is bright. I am also a fan of the single mode. I've been using this light on some bike-unfriendly streets of metro-Orlando, and (fingers crossed) haven't been hit yet. The only negative thing I have to mention is the on/off switch sticks out, making it really easy to drain the batteries if you toss the light in a bag at the end of a ride. Easy enough to fix. I shaved the rubberized switch with a razor blade so it's flush with the housing, and haven't had any problems since.
