this is a very lightweight knife, the handle is completely made out of plastic. but it is not "cheap". it has a very nice assisted opening, as good as an auto. once you are used to the unlock mechanism, it works great, feels good, and is a tough, handy knife

For what it's worth I think the Zytel knife is better in every meaningful way, though both that and the alloy knife are nice. It's significantly lighter and I see no real-world advantage to the alloy handle in terms of durability or any other area. The Flash I is a great design and a great everyday-carry knife, though I prefer the Sog Aegis to the Flash II if you are looking for something larger.

Yes, this particular knife has the aluminum handle but I have also seen the plastic handle models that sell for less. I have a smaller SOG with the plastic handle and so far no worries, has held up well.

the handle on this knife is anodized aluminum, but they do have other ones that are cheaper with zytel plastic handles.
