Seriously Awesome Coat
By Windy City
Ranked #241 - Women's Down Jackets

I wore my new coat today in a snow storm in Chicago (with windchill, around 10 degrees and very windy) and felt snug as a bug. I love Patagonia's down sweater and wanted something just as light and compressible but in coat form, and the Fiona fits the bill. The Fiona is different from the down sweater in a couple of respects. First, the fit is completely different: while the down sweater is boxy and roomy, the Fiona is more fitted and lean. I am 5'2", 115 lbs and fit comfortably in an XS, but I probably can only fit an R2 underneath it; anything more would render the shoulders kind of tight. Secondly, the Fiona appears to be designed as an urban, "fashion" coat as compared to the down sweater's often more sportive, technical use (I use the down sweater as a mid-layer for hiking, camping and skiing, while I envision the Fiona as more useful while wandering about the city). For example, the Fiona does not have the down sweater's built-in compression sack pocket that is so useful for packing. The Chantarelle is a great color - kind of a grayish cream color that looks great against black.
