This is my first pair of more relaxed cycling shorts. I was needing something for riding with the family and around town without having to pull out the full spandex... The outer layer is vented in areas, and the material is cool. The inner liner is also thinner than your regular spandex cycling shorts, yet with the Pearl Izumi chamois that you love... The liner snaps into place with the outer layer, yet can be separated if you want to wear the outer layer separately or for washing.
