Ranked #903 - Women's Softshell Jackets
February 11, 2009
My boyfriend swears by Arcteryx, but I wasn't sold on this jacket (maybe b/c I am not used to spending so much money for a coat). The jacket seemed to be well made, and was comfortable, but it wasn't very warm and the neck was a little big, allowing wind to get stuck inside the jacket.
Seems like a good jacket, but it wasn't perfect in my eyes, so I returned it.

You may have found this jacket not to be very warm because it's designed to protect against wind/snow/rain while climbing or other physical exertion; if a jacket is too warm it will make you sweat while you're exerting yourself. You should consider this jacket a shell layer (hence the "soft shell"), and wear a fleece or down sweater under it to add warmth when you stop moving. If you don't like yours, though, I'm happy to take it off your hands for small money ;)
