Bad Advice from Backcountry

By Ranked #2997 - Women's Down Jackets January 29, 2009

I was looking for a super warm, heavy weight down jacket. The chat now guy said this is the warmest I can get. This is definitely a spring jacket for warmer weather.

I was a little put off by his bad advice and will go elsewhere for product information from now on.

Well, that depends on what you mean by heavy weight. Most people are not looking for actual weight, quite the opposite. 850 down fill is EXTREMELY warm without being heavy. 850 is generally the max a you would need outside of an expedition, and then it would only be a camp jacket, too hot to move in. Down is really impacted by moisture, though, so I think most would wear this with a shell. Unless you're in the arctic circle right now, a good shell and this jacket should do you.
