Canada Goose Constable Down Parka - Men's

Item #CDG0023 | 4 in Stock
2 Star Rating

Very warm - with a few flaws

By Ranked #674 - Men's Down Jackets January 29, 2009

I live in Norway and bought this jacket mostly for using around town when the temperatures are in the teens and twenties and lower. This coat is hands down the warmest I've ever owned. The construction quality is top notch and I generally like the styling. I chose this jacket because of Canada Goose's reputation and because I liked this jacket's price point and the fact that they don't use fur.

Unfortunately, this coat is far from perfect. The drawstring waist does not completely encircle the waist, therefore this jacket is extremely prone to heat loss due to drafts - even just walking can create an unpleasant "bellows" effect. There are no hand-warmer pockets, which to my mind is just inexcusable - I find myself unzipping the sides and putting my hands inside the coat to keep them warm, which works just OK. I would have also liked a more iPod-friendly interior pocket - though in the face of the two preceding issues, this is a minor quibble.

The bottom line is that I really can't recommend this coat unless, like me, you insist on buying Canada Goose but balk at wearing real fur. Otherwise, I would opt for the one of the other parkas.

CANADA GOOSE CONSTABLE - NOT A GREAT PARKA! I am glad that Ook2606065 and Matt realize that they deserve a Great Down Parka - and the Canada Goose Constable is NOT A GREAT PARKA. May I suggest that they consider the Mt. Hardwear Chillwave Down Parka, which is a Great Down Parka!

I agree with Ook2606065's comments. I returned mine because it was shedding down out of the interior stitching. Anytime I wore it I came out with 30-50 tiny feathers on me. It was water resistant enough for Seattle. I'm 6'3" so the parka length was great. I loved the look of the jacket, but after a couple months of shedding, what I thought was a "new jacket" phenomenon did not improve so I had to send it back.
