Nice jacket but opted for the McMurdo

Ranked #37 - Kids' Jackets

I bought this jacket for my 5 year old son. This was meant to be his jacket for the coldest winter days. However, after receiving it, I didn't think it would be sufficiently warm for the coldest days. The down didn't seem particularly thick, the fabric seemed thin and not waterproof, and the jacket was not long enough to cover my son's bottom and hips. I ended up getting him the NF McMurdo parket which I am love. It is down-filled with heavy, water resistant fabric, and the parka goes partway down the legs. It also has a down-filled hood. I feel comfortable sending my son out into the 15 degree weather wearing the McMurdo. So if you are looking for an everyday jacket, the Aconcagua is nice enough. But if you are looking for a super-warm jacket, get the McMurdo.

Is the McMurdo Bluesign approved (you'd want to know that with kids) or at least that the DWR is PFOA or PFOS-free?
