Glue dissolves the skin savers...
By Schwerkraft
Ranked #280 - Climbing Skins
December 29, 2008
I have two of these skin savers that actually came with my skins. After having them on there for quite some time, the glue seems to disolve the plastic which then gets stuck on the skin. It's impossible to get it back off since the pieces that get stuck are tiny.

So I read this post a while back and decided to run my own test this summer. I put the Skin Savers on my trusty skins (G3 Alpinist) around June first 2010 and stored my skins in a stuff sack, in my closet (in Salt Lake - hot summers!), in a non-air-conditioned apartment. I took them off this morning (Oct 28) before my first tour of the year. Happy to report that there was no melting of my Skin Savers and my skins looked as good as ever. Store your skins in a cool, dry spot and you should be good to go. I don't know if Schwerkraft had bad luck or what, but I wanted to add in my own experience.
