First of all, let me make sure you understand that this jacket is great and definitley deserves 5 stars.
I have 2 myself and wanted to order one for my girlfriend for christmas. Sizing always seems to be an issue when ordering online, and based on other posts i found that you can apparently order a boys size, save a bunch of money, and have it nicely fit a woman.
A couple reviews noted XL being a great size for women 5'4 and 120. thats simply not the case.
My girlfriend is 5'4 and 120 and this jacket is WAY too big on her in XL.
If you're going to try and save some cash by ordering boys size for a woman, my best advice is to take measurements. sure it is going to ruin the surprise of the jacket, but come on. It isnt that big a deal. you want to make sure the size is right and ruin the surprise vs. keep it a surprise and have a giant northface parachute on christmas day.
i have full confidence that backcountry will honor my return as they have been the best company i've ever dealt with in terms of customer service.
i've purchased ALL my snowboarding gear here ever since i found out about this site.
So, best bet...if you're gonna order this jacket like a cheapskate in boys for a woman like i did...
take measurements!!!!!!!

I am 5'3 1/2" 115# and tried on a kid's XL tonight in a local store to check the fit before going online to see if I could get a better deal. The fit is perfect, especially if you have on a sweater underneath the jacket, and my sweater was rather on the thin side! So for me, derin's comment didn't ring true. Thanks anyway, derin! Happy New Year! :~)
